The simple but beautiful plague, entitled ‘Sit on me and enjoy the view’ got me thinking about the relevance of context in blog marketing – and why it is crucial to remember that a good blog delivers from the position of where the blogger is at the time.
Blogging Outreach, in the hands of the unwary, seems like an easy, free and painless way of connecting with potential clients and customers online.
Wrong. Effective blog marketing has an acute awareness of past, present and potential.
My 3 P’s of engaging through Blogging Outreach, which struck me as I sat on the bench pictured above, are:
* Past
Past experiences provide a powerful context for blogs, and should be utilised to the full. Building a meaningful relationship with your audiences hinges upon developing trust. Remembering useful past experiences goes a long way to building further trust.
* Present
Present examples of the ‘how’ and ‘why’ of why your expertise makes a difference is important to provide your blog audience with identification. If your present is useful and aligned with your readers, you’ll develop loyalty. Remember to be where you are.
* Potential
By combining the experiences of the past and present, your blog marketing offers the potential to provide your audience with future opportunities to learn and grow through reading your blog. Potential is essential in building business through blogging.
Final thought:
A blog which forgets perspective, context, and serving its audience usually goes down one route – that of a broadcasting flog blog, serving nothing bigger than its own attempt to sell a product or service. By remembering where you are, your blog will come out of itself and look to the audience instead.
This is where truly meaningful social media engagement begins, grows and flourishes.
